Is Collins Mbesuma back????????

Is COLLINS Mbesuma is back? Thats the question everyone is asking after the burly Zambian scored a brace for new club Lamontville Golden Arrows in their Premier Soccer League KwaZulu-Natal derby against AmaZulu at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont yesterday.

The chunky Zambian striker, a record goal-scorer for Kaizer Chiefs in the league title-winning season in 2004/05, has suffered from weight and form problems as his career has gone backwards at English Premiership club Portsmouth, Maritimo in Portugal, Bursaspor in Turkey, Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows.

Yesterday though, the striker weighed in with a brace for the side he signed for three weeks ago, which kept Arrows in seventh place.

AmaZulu have only themselves to blame for finishing empty-handed. Usuthu enjoyed the lion’s share of possession throughout, but uncertainty in the final third proved their worst enemy.
Arrows on the other hand, boxed clever. They were prepared to soak up the pressure and forge ahead with purpose when it was necessary.

As expected, the visitors centred their efforts on testing AmaZulu’s new central defensive combination of Thamsanqa Sangweni and Thamsanqa Teyise, making his debut for the home side. And it was the pairing’s indecision over the marking of Mbesuma that resulted in Usuthu conceding the first goal.
Arrows’ midfield kingpin Siyabonga Nkosi took advantage of the hesitancy and slid a well-weighted ball for an unmarked Zambian to run on to and finish with ease in the ninth minute.

Mbesuma got his second of the afternoon when he was picked out by another sublime pass from Nkosi that allowed him to stroke the ball with ease past AmaZulu keeper, Thembalethu Moses, in the 54th minute.
